Time-based One-Time Password

If you use a MitID code display or a MitID audio code reader, you can view or hear a time-based one-time password, which you use to approve actions with MitID.

Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) are passwords that are available for only a short period of time.

In the MitID system, the MitID code display and MitID audio code reader use time-based one-time passwords. You can read more about them here:

If you choose to use a MitID code display or a MitID audio code reader, it must be activated before you can use it. You can do so here: Activate your MitID authenticator

When you activate a MitID code display or a audio code reader, it is linked to your user ID. This means that only you can use it to authorize actions with MitID in the future.

If you enter the wrong code too many times in a row, your MitID code display or audio code reader will be temporarily blocked. After the third incorrect attempt, you will be unable to use your MitID code display or audio code reader to authorize actions for a short period of time.
