Step 5 - Activate or order MitID

1. Choose On this phone on the screen 'How do you want to approve with MitID?'.
2. Enter the temporary PIN code, which will now be sent via SMS.
3. Look away while the person you are helping selects and enters their own personal PIN code twice. It's important to remember the code, as it will be used every time they need to approve something with their MitID app.
4. The person you are helping can now choose to use fingerprint/Touch ID/Face ID.
5. The person you are helping must now accept notifications to receive important messages about MitID.
6. Look away while the person you are helping sees their user ID in the app on the last step.
7. Press Next – the MitID app is now activated.

If the person you are helping already has a MitID but wants to have a backup MitID on an extra phone or tablet, choose this option.

First, download the MitID app from the Apple App Store or Google Play on the phone/tablet where you want to install the MitID app.

Next, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices. You can enable Bluetooth in the settings of your phone or tablet.

1. Take the phone you used to scan the passport.
2. Select App on another phone/tablet on the screen 'How do you want to approve with MitID?'. Press Next.
3. Press Show QR code on the screen 'Activate new app with QR code'.
4. Accept that the MitID app uses Bluetooth - and for older versions of Android phones, also accept access to location.
5. A QR code will now be displayed, which you need to scan with the phone/tablet where you want to install the MitID app. The QR code is valid for three minutes.
6. Open the MitID app on the other phone/tablet where you want the MitID app installed.
7. Press Get started on the screen 'Activate your MitID'.
8. Select Copy from another MitID app. Press Next.
9. Mark the field QR code is shown on the old app and press Scan QR code.
10. Accept that the MitID app uses Bluetooth - and for older versions of Android phones, also accept access to location.
11. Now scan the QR code by holding the phone/tablet up in front of the QR code on the other device. Make sure to face the screen of the phone/tablet towards yourself so the MitID app can use the camera to scan the QR code.
12. Look away while the person you are helping comes up with and enters a user ID. You are not allowed to know the person's user ID. Then press Next.
13. Enter the temporary PIN code that now comes in an SMS.
14. Press Next on the screen 'Choose your personal PIN code'.
15. Look away while the person you are helping creates their personal PIN code. Press Next.
16. Look away while the person you are helping repeats their personal PIN code. Press Next.
17. The person you are helping can now choose to use biometric (fingerprint/Touch ID/Face ID).
18. The person you are helping must now accept notifications to receive important messages about MitID.
19. This app is now activated and ready to use. Press OK.

If the person you are helping wants, for example, a MitID code display, choose this option.

1. Choose Code display, audio code reader, or chip on the screen 'How do you want to approve with MitID?'. Press Next.
2. Scroll down and press, for example, Choose code display on the screen 'What do you want to activate/order?'.
3. You will now see the screen 'Do you have a code display?' 
   
   Press No, order a code display, if the person, you are helping, do not have a code display and you want to order one. Follow the steps on the screen to order a code display, which the person, you are helping, will subsequently receive by mail along with instructions on how to activate it.
   
   Press Yes, activate, if the person, you are helping, has a code display.
   
   
4. On the screen 'MitID activation' press Next.
5. On the screen 'Create your new password' the person, you are helping, enters the new password and repeat the password. Press Next.
6. On the screen 'Enter serial number' enter the serial number from the code display. Press Next.
7. On the screen 'Enter the code from your code display' enter the one-time code you get by pressing the button on the code display. Press Next.
8. The activation is complete. Press Finish.
